According to the Chronicle Live, Jacob Murphy is keen on a move to Newcastle United this summer, but Norwich City have told the Magpies to increase their offer for the player.

Murphy is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs, and Newcastle have seen an £8m bid rejected by the Canaries already this summer, with Norwich demanding almost double that figure.

Rafa Benitez remains keen to take Murphy to St James’ Park, and the player himself is also keen to take the step up to the Premier League with the Magpies.

The winger was in impressive form for the Canaries in the Championship last season, standing out in his first full year in the Norwich first-team.

The 22-year-old made 37 Championship appearances for Norwich, scoring nine goals and adding six assists.

Newcastle saw how much potential Murphy has, with the winger scoring both home and away against the Magpies in the Championship last season.

His impressive form throughout the last 12-months earned Murphy a call-up to Aidy Boothroyd’s England under-21 squad this summer, where he made four appearances for his country at the European Championships.

Murphy scored one goal at the summer tournament, before England were knocked out by Germany in the semi-final.
