Charlton Athletic have announced that they have completed the signing of Chelsea youngster Ian Maatsen on a season-long loan deal for the 2020/21 campaign.
Maatsen spent his youth career in the Netherlands, and will be hoping that he can make a positive impact with Lee Bowyer’s side this term.
Charlton have endured a frustrating start to this year’s campaign in League One, as they currently sit 17th in the third-tier standings after their opening four matches.

Lee Bowyer was clearly keen to add depth to his current options, as they look to win promotion back into the Championship at the first time of asking, and was excited by Maatsen’s arrival.
“He’s ambitious [with the ball], very good in possession, he has great energy, great pace. I would say he is quite similar to Jay Dasilva, the way he travels with the ball and goes past people. He’s exciting and different to what we have.”
Plenty of Charlton Athletic supporters took to social media to issue their thoughts on Maatsen’s arrival at The Valley.

Great signing that also fits in with the salary cap. pic.twitter.com/PEHxn1flCu

Another signing in area we have issues in. Looking stronger every day. Now can I be greedy and ask for another attacking player or am I pushing my luck
