Duncan Watmore has extended his stay with Middlesbrough by signing a new long-term contract at the Riverside Stadium.

Following his release from Sunderland in June, Watmore joined Boro on a short-term deal with Neil Warnock’s team back in November.

And after scoring five times in eight matches, including braces in the victories over Swansea and Millwall last month, the attacker has been rewarded with a permanent contract after his initial stay in on Teeside was set to expire in January.

After a number of injury-hit seasons during his seven years at the Stadium of Light, Watmore is now enjoying the most prolific campaign of his career – with his five goals beating his previous best of four he managed with the Black Cats back in the Premier League in 2015-16.
