Excellent news for Nottingham Forest as club announce huge deal

Nottingham Forest have confirmed via their official website that defender Eric Lichaj has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The American defender joined the Reds in 2013 from Aston Villa, and is approaching his 200th appearances in all competitions for the East Midlands club.

An FA Cup hero last weekend following his brace against Arsenal, the player has committed his future to Aitor Karanka’s side, and will look to continue in a starting role when Forest take on Lichaj’s former club Aston Villa this evening.

A popular figure, Karanka had been in the news this week after a Twitter campaign was launched to convince the 29-year-old’s wife to let the player adopt a puppy following his success against the Gunners, with the player now the proud owner of a French bulldog pup, aptly named ‘Gunner’.

The Verdict

Forest fans will be delighted to see Lichaj commit to a new deal, with the American international in excellent form over the past few weeks.

Having shot to national fame following his wonderful second goal against Arsenal, Lichaj has capped off a whirlwind week with his new deal, and will be delighted to extend his stay at the club and experience life under new boss Karanka.

Lichaj must now get his head down and continue to challenge for a spot in the starting XI, and hope that his form will be good enough to inspire his side to a late playoff push.
