Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has revealed he will sign a new contract with the club in the summer, putting an end to any speculation about his future with the Trotters.

In a report by the Bolton News, the 'keeper has revealed he will be staying with the Lancashire club beyond this current campaign, after impressing for Phil Parkinsons's men over the course of the Championship season as the club have battled against relegation.

"The club wants to give me a new deal and I want to sign. We’re looking to get it done. But at the moment it’s not really about me - I’m just playing my football and doing anything I can to keep this club in the league, then we’ll sort it.” Alnwick said.

The former Spurs and Sunderland stopper has become a key man over the course of his two-year spell with the Trotters, and is seen by manager Phil Parkinson as a key component of any success the club are going to have going forward.

Still only 31, Alnwick has plenty left in the tank in terms of his goalkeeping career, and it will no doubt be a huge boost for the Bolton fans to see their stopper wanting to put pen to paper on a new deal.
