Tottenham will not be recalling youngster Josh Onomah from his loan spell with Aston Villa this month, according to journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Independent.

Villa boss Steve Bruce had feared the North London side could exercise an option to bring the 20-year-old back to Wembley Stadium this month to bolster their ranks ahead of their push for top four football, but it now appears that the former Hull City manager will be able to call upon the player until the end of the campaign.

Onomah has featured regularly for the Villains, playing twenty-three times in the league and scoring four goals, and Bruce will be keen to hold onto the player ahead of Villa’s push for an automatic promotion spot.

The West Midlands side lie just three points from second placed Derby County, with the possibility of a Premier League return exciting fans of the Birmingham-based club.

The Verdict

Onomah is a quality young player with bags of potential, and looks likely to be plying his trade in the Premier League next season with his parent club.

Held in high regard by coaching staff at Spurs, the 20-year-old will hope that his year in the second tier will prepare him for the demands of top flight football, and fans will be desperate to see the player step up upon his return and challenge for a regular first-team spot.

The youngster must now get his head down over the next six months, and prove to manager Mauricio Pochettino that he is good enough to be included in the Spurs squad next year.
