Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce could reportedly be replaced as Newcastle United manager at the end of the season, which has drawn an interesting reaction from fans of the Yorkshire club.

Bruce controversially left Wednesday to join the St James' Park outfit in July last year, just three weeks before the start of the season.

The 59-year-old manager took charge at Hillsborough at the start of 2019 and led the Owls to an 11th-place finish in the 2018/19 campaign.

It looked as though Wednesday would be led by Bruce for the current campaign but deep into pre-season he left the club to join Newcastle.

The North East club is now set to be taken over by a Saudi-backed consortium in a reported £300 million deal.

Sky Sports have reported that Bruce's job is secure until the end of the current campaign but that he could be replaced at that point, with Mauricio Pochettino, Rafa Benitez and Max Allegri lined up as potential replacements.

Given his unceremonious exit, the news of Bruce's potential sacking has drawn an interesting reaction from Wednesday fans, some of whom have taken to Twitter to express their joy, while others have hit back at the suggestion that he deserves more respect.
