Swansea City extended their unbeaten league run to four matches as they sealed a tense 2-1 victory over Wigan courtesy of goals from Rhian Brewster and Andre Ayew.

Steve Cooper's side were trailing after Nathan Byrne's goal in the 16th minute, but Conor Gallagher then assisted Brewster just three minutes later on both their home debuts, while Ayew then scored the second with a backheel in the second period.

The result means the South Wales side have moved up to fifth in the Championship table as they now aim to step up their promotion push, while it will have come as a major boost to Brewster to open his Swansea account on his home debut.

Brewster joined the Swans on loan from Liverpool earlier this month, and while he endured a difficult debut against Cardiff in the South Wales derby last weekend, he looked sharp on Saturday afternoon as he linked up well with fellow new signing Gallagher.

Plenty of Swansea supporters took to Twitter to praise Brewster's performance as he made his Liberty Stadium bow, while others suggested the 19-year-old has the attributes to cause plenty of problems for rival defences during the remainder of the season.
