Football Italia have reported that Gaston Ramirez is on his way out of Middlesbrough, as he undergoes a medical at Serie A outfit Sampdoria.

Reports this week have linked the former Southampton midfielder with a return to Serie A, the league where he spent two seasons, before his big money move to St Mary's with Bologna - and it looks as if it is all set to become to become official as he returns to Italy.

In 40 league games, spanning across a loan spell and a permanent spell at the Riverside, Ramirez found the back of the net on nine occasions, before his form tailed off in the second half of last season.

Middlesbrough fans reacted happily on the whole, with the majority of them pleased that they are recouping such a large fee for a player who downed tools, especially in a dismal display away at Stoke City last season.

However, some harboured concerns over losing such a creative influence on the squad, and a hugely talented number 10.

Middlesbrough fans - how do you feel about Ramirez' impending departure? Are you pleased to see him go or would you have kept him around the club?
