Ipswich Town confirmed last night that they had agreed a new 18-month contract with centre-back James Wilson after his fine start to the season.

The former Lincoln man arrived at Portman Road in the summer on a short-term deal but he has quickly proven his worth to the team by making eight league appearances to help Paul Lambert's men to second place in League One.

Therefore, tying him down on a longer contract seemed inevitable and the Tractor Boys announced on their official site that a new agreement had been reached.

Wilson will remain at the club until the summer of 2021 and the club have the option to extend that by a further 12 months if they want to.

Even though he wasn't a big-name arrival, the fans are very pleased with how Wilson has settled and they were delighted to see the 30-year-old sign the deal.
