Steve Cooper has been officially named as Nottingham Forest’s new Head Coach.
The Reds have moved quickly to find a successor to Chris Hughton, who was sacked last week following a poor start to the season.
Dane Murphy has made his first managerial appointment as CEO of the club, bringing in his number one target in Cooper.
Cooper made a name for himself in management in the England youth setup, guiding the Under-17s’ to FIFA World Cup success in 2017.
The 41-year-old – who worked with the likes of Phil Foden, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Rhian Brewster in that time – then moved into club football with Swansea City.

In his two seasons at the Liberty Stadium, Cooper guided the Swans to back-to-back play-off finishes, reaching the semi-finals in 2019/20 and reaching the final last season.
With a new regime looking to embed a new philosophy of producing a younger squad at the City Ground, Cooper seems like an ideal fit.
Here, we take a look at Forest fans’ reactions to the appointment…

Excellent appointment- clearly a considered decision rather than a rushed one. Excited to see what he can do with our group of young exciting players. Onwards and upwards! #nffc
