Cardiff City will be looking to turn around their poor run of form at the earliest of opportunities, with Neil Harris' side struggling for a positive run of results in recent weeks.

The Bluebirds are currently sat 18th in the Championship table, and the club's supporters will have been hugely frustrated to hear of the news that Lee Tomlin is set for a spell in the treatment room through injury.

Football League World's Cardiff City fan Ben Johnsey highlighted his side's 'lack of creativity and tempo' as one of the main reasons as to why they have struggled in recent weeks.

"Cardiff currently sit 18th in the table eight points off a play-off spot. This is largely due to the lack of creativity and tempo on the pitch, with games often feeling like a training match lacking the determination fans became accustomed to last season.

"With star man Lee Tomlin set to miss a further two months, Cardiff fans' concerns have continued to grow with many trying to think who can fill his role as the second striker going forward."

Johnsey went on to admit that Josh Murphy could be the ideal player to fill the attacking void left by Tomlin, and outlined the attributes that the former Norwich City midfielder could bring to Neil Harris' team, as they look to turn around their poor run of form.

"Many feel Harry Wilson will be the best to fill the role but I disagree feeling he is better suited to the right wing position. His pinpoint crossing will be better suited with Kieffer Moore’s heading ability not currently being taken advantage of.

"Other candidates such as Sheyi Ojo and Hoilett also better suit their current wing positions, each fitting Harris’s’ style of play which likes to see his wingers track back to offer support for the full back behind them.

"So who fits the role? For me that man is Josh Murphy, a player who has struggled to find his place in the Cardiff side. I feel Josh will offer exactly what we need as a second striker with his mix of pace, skill and good finishing ability, he will offer an option to get in behind, something Cardiff have lacked since the departure of striker Danny Ward."

The Cardiff City supporter admitted that fans fave grown frustrated with his lack of effort at times for the club, with the winger only showing glimpses of his quality in recent seasons.

"Murphy has played on the wing for most of his career but he just doesn't suit Cardiff's style of play, often being branded as 'lazy'. Fans have grown frustrated having only seen flashes of what he can really do.

"Though he has been inconsistent I feel he isn't the type of winger Harris is looking for. Murphy has struggled to track back and will often cut in from the wing, rather than look to find a cross which has proven problematic with Kieffer Moore up top.

Johnsey is keen to see Neil Harris throw Murphy into the central role at the earliest of opportunities, starting against Coventry City on Wednesday evening.

"A move more central could be exactly what Josh needs to find his feet. This taking away a lot of the responsibilities to track back could help Murphy unleash the attacking ability we all know he has while also filling the Lee Tomlin shaped hole in Cardiff's midfield."

"This does look like something Harris has been testing out, with Murphy coming on as a second striker against Millwall going on to get the assist for the equaliser.

"I'm hoping to see Murphy given a chance to show just what he can do or I worry Cardiff could be set for another frustrating evening."
