West Brom have had a bid rejected for Newcastle's Isaac Hayden as Darren Moore looks to strengthen his squad in the January window.

The enforcer has repeatedly asked to leave the North East club over the past few windows for family reasons but so far a deal has not been reached.

And, the Express & Star revealed that Albion were knocked back with a bid for the 23-year-old.

Despite his pleas to leave, Hayden has won his place back in the team over the festive period and with midfielder Ki Seung-yeung away for the Asian Cup, boss Rafa Benitez isn't in any rush to sell.

But, would Hayden be a good signing for Albion?

Here, our writers share their thoughts...

George Harbey

"I think Hayden is exactly what they need.

"He’s failing to make an impact in the top flight with Newcastle, but was superb for them in the Championship and showed real quality on the ball.

"With the likes of Gareth Barry and Chris Brunt ageing, Hayden could be a perfect signing."

Alfie Burns

"It’d be a great signing for the Baggies.

"Central midfield is an area that Moore needs to freshen up and Hayden does bring youthful energy, as well as plenty of quality.

"For me, this is a deal that should be a priority for West Brom."

Chris Gallagher

"This would be a superb signing.

"The Baggies are lacking something in the middle of the park and Hayden would provide them with an aggressive, energetic option.

"As well as that, he's won promotion from the Championship before and that experience could be vital."
