Sheffield Wednesday secured their first three points under new boss Jos Luhukay last night, with a Lucas Joao double firing the Owls to victory over promotion-chasing Derby County.

Goals either side of the break from the Portuguese forward ensured only a second win over the Rams in twenty attempts, lifting the South Yorkshire side a comfortable nine points clear of the bottom three.

Dutchman Luhukay had struggled since taking over from Carlos Carvalhal, and made the shock decision to deploy Nike academy graduate Sean Clare in the middle of the park for the visit of Gary Rowett’s side.

The 21-year-old’s full senior debut for the club proved to be a resounding success, with the London-born midfielder bossing the midfield on a cold night at Hillsborough.
