Norwich City playmaker Emi Buendia is reportedly on Arsenal's transfer shortlist ahead of January.

According to football.london, the Gunners have not made a formal approach for the 23-year-old but Mikel Arteta is an admirer and he is on the club's transfer shortlist.

It is understood that Buendia is focussed on helping the Canaries win promotion back to the Premier League but that he could be open to a move.

So, is the attacking midfielder good enough for Arsenal?

Our FLW writers share their verdicts...

Alfie Burns

Absolutely. It’s exactly the type of signing that Arsenal need to make this winter.

Arteta’s side are drifting and, in my eyes, they are pretty dull to watch and lacking serious creativity.

Buendia brings such excitement to Norwich and he has already proved that he can cut it in the Premier League.

At 23, there’s plenty of room for him to grow and he’s a player with undoubted Premier League quality.

Arsenal will have to make their move quickly because I cannot see how Buendia will be kicking around at Norwich for long.

If they don’t act, one of their rivals towards the top of the Premier League will.

Lambert? Hughton? Who was the Norwich City manager when each of these 15 Canaries moments happened?

Chris Thorpe

I think he is yes, but in order for him to make it big at Premier League level, he needs to develop some consistency in his performances.

Occasionally he can go missing in games and I think given the situation that Arsenal are in right now, they could do without adding any more 'stragglers' to their ranks.

He's a class player who doesn't necessarily deserve to be playing at Championship level but I think if he was really that good, wouldn't he have been snapped up in the summer?

Overall I think he could give Arsenal the creativity that they have been lacking in recent games but he must show it on a consistent basis if he is to be regarded as good enough for the Gunners.

With how things are going right now, I think he is.

If you look at Arsenal at the minute, they are simply not creating enough chances going forward, let alone scoring them, and that is costing them badly.

Buendia showed last season in a struggling Norwich side that he is capable of creating and scoring goals in the top-flight of English football, so you feel he would be more than capable of doing that in an Arsenal side that possesses that bit more quality than the Canaries.

You also feel as this would be a more affordable move then bringing in a player competing at the top level elsewhere in England or Europe, and Buendia would surely relish an opportunity such as this, meaning it could be well worth looking into for Mikel Arteta's side.
