Sunderland's impressive run of form continued on Tuesday night thanks to a 4-2 win against fellow promotion hopefuls Barnsley at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats raced into a 3-0 lead after half-an-hour with Aiden McGeady opening the scoring from the spot before strikes from Josh Maja and Lynden Gooch put them in a dominant position.

Kieffer Moore dragged the Tykes back into the game with two goals, but Jack Ross's side were not to be beaten, however, as Luke O'Nien tapped home a fourth to make the game safe.

It was also a match that saw midfielder Max Power start again after having his red card against Walsall rescinded, a red that would have seen him face a five-match ban.

The Wigan loanee was in an emotional mood after the match as well, dubbing the last few days the toughest of his career and thanked everyone who stuck by him.
