Ricardo Moniz is unable to become the new Notts County manager due to family reasons, confirmed the club’s official website.
Moniz had to deal with family matters at home in Italy and was therefore not available to complete his move to League One side.
Former Tottenham coach and Hamburg manager Moniz had been in advanced talks with the club and a package had been agreed to the satisfaction of both parties, but the hunt for a manager to replace Shaun Derry continues after the Dutchman’s takeover fell through.
The news that Moniz will not be taking over at Meadow Lane comes after Dave Kevan left his assistant manager post at Conference side Forest Green Rovers, in a move which was going to see Kevan return to Notts County as part of Moniz’ coaching team.
It isn’t yet known whether Kevan will still be re-joining the coaching staff at Meadow Lane after the deal for the Dutch manager fell through.
County currently lie 20th in League One, outside of the relegation zone on goal difference alone having won just a single game in their last nine fixtures.
In their last fixture at home to 19th placed Scunthorpe the Midlands club was heading for a vital three points but were pegged back by a late equaliser from the Iron’s Niall Canavan.
Next up for Notts is a Good Friday visit to 16th placed Walsall who are just three points ahead of the Midlands club and anything less than a win could see County fall into the relegation zone depending on other results.
