Sheffield Wednesday face a pretty big game tonight as they take on Millwall in the Championship with Carlos Carvalhal's job still a matter of much debate.

The Owls simply haven't found the form of the past two years this season and fans are growing more and more concerned and frustrated at the way things are playing out at the moment. For sure, then, there is work to do for the men from Hillsborough as they welcome the Lions up from London this evening.

It could, if it goes wrong, be the game that seals Carvalhal's fate but in the meantime let's not speculate too much and instead we'll take a look at Chris Kirkland's message to the fans. The goalkeeper played for Wednesday and was a hit during his time there and he has urged the supporters to get behind their side and cheer them on - via his Twitter:

Certainly, when the Owls' faithful is in full cry then they become a very formidable outfit to try and beat. They have been disgruntled more often than not this season, though, and so the players are going to have to get them going with a quick start against a tough Millwall team.

The Verdict

The men from Hillsborough really need to turn things around as soon as they can and Kirkland is all too aware of the impact the fans can have.

Certainly, the Owls' supporters can cheer their team to three points tonight but they'll be hoping that the players can provide something to genuinely get excited about.
