Former Reading and Ipswich Town midfielder Stephen Hunt is being heavily linked with a move to an MK Dons side lacking a creative spark in their midfield, according to oneMK.
The 34-year-old is currently unattached after being released by the Tractor Boys in the summer, and after some loose links with a coaching role at former club Reading, the Irishman has been taken on trial by the Dons.
He has been training with the squad for a couple of weeks, with manager Karl Robinson hoping he can bring the experienced midfielder into the squad on a free transfer in the near future.
When asked about Hunt, the Dons manager told oneMK: ‘Me and the chairman are constantly speaking about it but he’s certainly impressed me on and off the pitch.’
Clearly, Robinson thinks Hunt still has the talent, but whether a deal can be engineered to bring him into the club still remains to be seen, with many dubious that the Irishman’s best days are behind him.
However, he would certainly bring a wealth of experience to a Dons side who moved out of the Championship relegation zone courtesy of a 2-1 win over play-off chasing Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday evening, and would likely benefit from someone who knows the division well in their bid to preserve their Championship status.
