Marc Bircham was arrested for aggravated battery in Florida last Friday.

The ex-QPR captain has been living in the Bahamas since March, after being appointed technical director of the Bahamas Football Association.

He played over 150 games for QPR between 2002 and 2007, representing the likes Millwall and Yeovil Town either side of his QPR stint, and racking up 17 caps for Canada.

Responding to recent events on Twitter, Bircham posted this message:

After retiring from playing in 2009, Bircham quickly landed himself the role of youth coach at QPR. In the past ten years he's been involved with the club on numerous occasions, working as both a first-team coach and most recently as assistant manager.

He's comes from an era in QPR's history that was full of cult figures - the likes of Kevin Gallen, Gareth Ainsworth and more.

Many fans have been shocked and saddened to hear about the recent allegations made against Bircham. Little is known about the events of that night, but fans of Bircham's remain confident that he'll resume his normal duties very soon.

His new role in the Bahamas surprised many as well. Bircham swapped the UK for the golden sands and his new role included some big tasks, including getting the nation's youth playing more football, and bettering the their already present national team.

The verdict

Hopefully, this matter is something that will quickly go away for Bircham. Nobody has made any suggestions as of yet, and nobody is judging Bircham until the truth is clear. A huge favourite amongst R's fans, and they'll be paying close attention to this case.
