Neil Warnock steered Queens Park Rangers to the Championship title in 2011.
Almost ten years ago now, a sprightly Warnock guided QPR to an unprecedented title-winning campaign in the Championship, and to Premier League football after a 15-year hiatus.
It’s a feat still heralded today and with no new football to report, fans have been dipping into the archives for their footballing fix.
QPR’s Twitter account has been reliving all the action from that season, and some ex-players are recalling their memories of it:
The best!! Unbelievable group of players and staff 😍 https://t.co/YP8zAAin7U

That was a magic season in all the possible ways you can imagine✨💙 https://t.co/AoGrwUFXrI

Jamie Mackie was a huge favourite at QPR, and so too was Ale Faurlin. Mackie scored nine goals that season as he played a hugely important role in the QPR attack, whilst Faurlin, in his second season at the club, made another huge impression in midfield.
The Argentine is one of the classiest players to have played for the club, but it was his transfer that almost caused an unprecedented U-turn in QPR’s bid for promotion.

He’d technically joined the club under Bosman transfer rules, but at the same time he was under contract with a sporting agency. A lot of back-and-forth went on, and allegations over who owed who money, and the whole situation could’ve ended in QPR being deducted points.
It was ongoing through the second-half of their title-winning season, but QPR were eventually let off with a fine, and promoted into the Premier League.
Mackie and Faurlin were two great players for QPR, and that season is one of the best memories that fans have in the club’s modern history.
The campaign saw a fine squad of players win the Championship, and fans would love to see something similar under Mark Warburton one day.
