Derby County are going to be an interesting side to watch this season coming in the Sky Bet Championship as there's a real element of the unknown with them.

The Rams in recent years have been there or thereabouts in the playoff race, of course, but have never got things over the line and it looks as though they're going to have to rein in the spending this summer.

Frank Lampard, then, might be the ideal man to bring in talented young players on loan given his contacts high up in the game and Dean Ashton feels Tammy Abraham could be one of those.

The Chelsea player has spent recent seasons on loan with Bristol City and Swansea City with the former the more successful spell and if Derby could get him to replicate that he'd be a big hit.

Certainly, former pro Ashton can see it happening and hinted that the forward may be tempted in today's printed Sun.

He said:

"How about Tammy Abraham? Yes, he has admirers in the Premier League after spending last season on loan at Swansea form Chelsea, but he could be tempted to work under Lampard."

The Verdict

Abraham has great talent and could be a big striker in the future.

His form at Swansea might not have been the most consistent but he's still got good ability and perhaps a step back down to the Championship for this season might work out in the long-term for him.
