Swansea City are in the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Graham Potter to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion.
Potter guided the Swans to a 10th-placed finish in the Championship on limited resources, and his efforts attracted the attention of the Seagulls who have handed Potter a four-year deal following Chris Hughton's dismissal.
This now leaves Swansea in search of their eighth manager since 2014, while the managerial change could also lead to a number of first-team players leaving the club.
Swansea chairman Trevor Birch has revealed in a statement that the club will look for a manager who can work with the club's young players, while he claims to have received a significant number of applications already.
It appears one those has come from former Swansea striker Shefki Kuqi, who has claimed he would be interested in occupying the Liberty Stadium hot seat.
"I spoke to them last time out, before Potter got the job," he told Wales Online.
"It's a club I know very well and I know the style of football they play and how they play it. I think this time around it would be a good opportunity."
Kuqi made 22 appearances and scored 7 goals for the Swans in 2010. His only previous managerial experience has come in his native Finland, while he has not held held a post since 2017.
The Verdict
This would be an incredibly surprising appointment, and I don't think it is one Swansea would be interested in.
I think the Swans will be looking for someone with managerial experience in Britain. Kuqi does not fit the bill, while he is also not renowned for his coaching qualities.
His interest proves that the Swansea job remains an attractive proposition for upcoming managers, but it is vital Swansea are now shrewd when making this appointment.
