Ex-Premier League star in the frame for the vacant Peterborough United manager’s job

Sky Bet League One outfit Peterborough United are considering the appointment of James Beattie as the club’s new boss, according to the Daily Mail.

The Posh are on the lookout for a new manager following the sacking of Graham Westley, who was sent packing in the aftermath of Saturday’s 2-0 reverse at the hands of Scunthorpe United.

Ex-Southampton and England striker Beattie has been out of work since leaving Swansea City earlier in the season, where he had been performing first-team coach duties under former Swans boss Garry Monk.

The 38-year-old is keen for his next job in football to be a managerial one and after gaining experience at Accrington Stanley, Beattie appears to have thrown his hat into the ring for the London Road vacancy.

It is likely that Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony will want someone with a bit more experience than Beattie, although that doesn’t mean he won’t get the chance to impress in an interview environment.

Peterborough United fans, would you welcome James Beattie? Who would be your selection for the position? Let us know below!
