Sheffield Wednesday's prospects next season are somewhat of an unknown as things stand.

Of course, you may argue that is the case for every club at this point in the year and you're well within your rights to do so, but most sides do have an inkling of what an ensuing campaign might have in store.

Wednesday, though, are very hard to read right now. A tough campaign that ended strongly, there's hope things will pick up in 2018/19 but, at the same time, there are worries over financial clout and, indeed, question marks seem to persist over Jos Luhukay with a distinct lack of signings so far this summer.

With that said, then, Terry Curran's comments about Luhukay's lack of pulling power might feel a little close to home for Owls fans likely worried about exactly that.

As quoted by the Sheffield Star, he said:

“It needs somebody who is going to fetch in top, top players.

"I look at it and I’m thinking: ‘They should be buying slightly better players.’

“In terms of Jos, I’ve not heard much of him. I’d sooner have a bigger name who will attract slightly better quality names to the club.”

The Verdict

Of course, we can't judge Luhukay's window until it shuts but until some players come in there will be this element of doubt around the club.

Get the summer right and the Owls have the capability to challenge for the top six for sure next season but get it wrong and more mid-table mediocrity awaits.
