Frank Lampard's future as Derby manager is the hot topic of conversation amongst football supporters heading into the summer.

It has been revealed by the Daily Mail, that the Rams boss is set for talks with Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich about becoming their new manager.

Chelsea recently confirmed that Maurizio Sarri is leaving the club to join Italian giants, Juventus ahead of next year's league campaign.

This has led to rumours that Lampard could be set to take charge at Stamford Bridge, and Derby are set to receive £4m in compensation if the former England man was to leave.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Lampard's uncle, Harry Redknapp admitted that he would be surprised if his nephew turned down the Chelsea job.

"I think it will be a major surprise if he does not get the job. It looks to me as though it will happen.

"It's brilliant for him. A shame for Derby. He has gone up there and done a good job."

Redknapp labelled it as 'a shame' for Derby if he was to depart, and has predicted that Lampard will succeed at Stamford Bridge if he is to be appointed as their new boss.

"I'm sure Derby loved having him there, the fans and everybody so it will be a shame for them, the club, the fans, but for Chelsea it is a great move for them."

"He is idolised at Chelsea. He is a genuine legend there. He knows the game, he knows what it's about, he has a touch of class and I think he will be great."

The Verdict:

I think it's only a matter of time before he departs.

Lampard is a legend at Chelsea, and I think the majority of us knew that he would struggle to turn down any offer that came his way from the Blues.

I have my doubts as to whether he'll be a success at Stamford Bridge as a manager though.
