Ex-Manchester United man reaches out to Leeds United’s Adam Forshaw after injury news

Former Manchester United defender Fabio has reached out to Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw after his successful hip surgery.

Forshaw has been missing for the majority of the season due to a hip injury and has not featured for the Whites since September.

It was announced earlier this week that the 28-year-old would have an operation in an attempt to solve the issue.

Forshaw took to Instagram yesterday to reveal that the surgery was a success and reassure fans that he was through the “toughest time” of his career and “on the mend”.

A number of current and former teammates sent the midfielder messages of encouragement in response to his latest injury update, including Fabio.

Fabio made 56 appearances for Leeds’ historic rivals Manchester United during a six-year spell at the club.

He signed with Middlesbrough in 2016 and featured 54 times for the North East club before leaving to join Ligue 1 side Nantes.

His time at the Riverside coincided with Forshaw’s, with the pair playing together in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons before the midfielder left Boro to join the Whites in January 2018.

He has since gone on to make 52 appearances for Leeds and helped them to reach the play-offs last season.

The Verdict

It’s great to see Forshaw’s surgery was successful and that he is on his way back to fitness.

This season must’ve been a really frustrating one for the midfielder, who has been struggling with his hip issue since pre-season.

It’s nice to see former teammates sending him messages of encouragement, though Leeds fans may not love that it is from a former Red Devils man.

Forshaw is going to be missed during the Championship run-in and you feel it was ultimately a mistake not to sign a replacement in January.
