Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has spoken to two defenders ahead of the duo moving to Gresty Road.
According to reports in the Stoke Sentinel, the Crewe manager has spoken to an experienced central defender and also a left back, with the latter believed to be former Manchester City youngster Greg Leigh.
The identity of the central defender is yet to be revealed, but face competition for the player from another League One club with interest high.
The League One club have conceded 150 goals in the last two seasons and Davis is said to be extremely keen to bring in some experience to bolster his defensive options, with a left back also an area of weakness.
Former City player, Leigh seems set to fill that void having impressed in the position during a loan spell with the Alex last season.
The 20-year-old now looks set to make the move permanent after a string of impressive displays for the club.
Central midfield is also an area which Crewe are keen to strenthen this summer but the club have said the possibility of a striker signing in the summer is ‘highly unlikely.’
