Martin Keown has hit out at Marcelo Bielsa after the Leeds United manager admitted he had sent someone to watch the opposition train for every game this season.

The Argentinian has faced severe criticism after a Whites employee was spotted at the Derby training ground ahead of their clash at Elland Road last Friday.

Bielsa then decided to call a surprise press conference last night to address the issue, where he went into great detail about how his backroom team scout the opposition.

However, he also acknowledged that the spying had been going on all season and even though he was up front about it, Keown was not happy with his actions when speaking to TalkSPORT.

"Does Bielsa want a pat on the back for being honest about his dishonesty? It's cheating, it's low, it's scandalous and it's despicable."

The EFL are investigating the former Marseille boss after his comments prior to the Rams fixture and they may come under more pressure to make a strong decision now that all the clubs in the league are involved.

Leaders Leeds travel to take on Stoke City this weekend.

The Verdict

This seems over the top from Keown as Bielsa or Leeds haven't broken any rules in what they've done although you can see why people think it's wrong.

However, it's about getting any edge that you can to win and many will remember Keown as a player and he certainly had that on the pitch, so his comments may not go down well now.

Ultimately, this story is just running and running and the EFL need to issue a punishment as soon as possible so we can move on from it.
