The much traveled ex-Wimbledon keeper will replace Sal Bibbo who lost his job at the Madejski Stadium last month.

Beasant was working in the same role for League Two Stevenage last season and bizarrely featured three times as a substitute for the club as they found themselves with limited goalkeeping options.

Reports had been suggesting the Beasant was the man Royals boss Steve Clarke had identified to replace the departing Bibbo for the last couple of weeks and the move now looks set to be completed.

The ex-West Brom boss is also expected to name the other members of his backroom team a little later on this week or early next week as he undergoes a shake-up in personnel.
