Paul Robinson believes that Birmingham City must focus on themselves if they're to avoid relegation to League One.

The Blues are sitting in a precarious situation in the Championship as they hover just above the drop zone with just 10 matches remaining.

While the position itself doesn't scream disaster, the fact that Rotherham United are just three points behind them with a staggering four games in hand means that the fate of Lee Bowyer's side is out of their hands.

Games will come thick and fast for the new Birmingham boss, and according to Robinson, it's important that they focus on themselves and picking up results.

Speaking on the Squad Of Their Time Podcast, quoted by Birmingham Live, Robinson said: “I expect him to do well at Birmingham.

"It is going to be close, it is going to be tight again this year but if Rotherham win their games, Birmingham need to win theirs and put pressure on the Coventrys and Derbys above them.

“That’s all they can do, concentrate on what they can do. I think it’s going to be squeaky bum time again with four or five games to go."

The verdict

It's going to be a very nervy few weeks for Birmingham City.

While Lee Bowyer's side are sitting outside of the relegation zone it's safe to say that it is Rotherham United who hold all of the cards in the relegation battle.

Bowyer will need his side to start picking up results quickly if they're to pull off a great escape.
