Blackpool manager Lee Clark has hinted that ex-Aston Villa striker Nathan Delfouneso is set to leave the club, according to the Blackpool Gazette.
The striker is one of a large number of the Blackpool squad who is expected to leave the club in the summer following their relegation into the third tier of League One.
The 23-year-old was left out of the squad that faced Cardiff City on Saturday and after the injury to Gary Madine, Pool manager Clark was left red faced as he had to put defender Peter Clarke up front for 40 minutes of the game.
Following his exclusion from the squad, Clark was asked whether it had anything to do with his impending departure from the club. He replied: “Read into it what you want. Attacking players have got to earn their right to be in the team and the squad by making goals and scoring goals because that is their job.
“As a striker, you have to create opportunities and score goals, it is a simple as that.
“You can take that any way you want, but you have to make an impact when you are given chances.”
Clark is due to hold one to one talks with individuals in the first team squad on Sunday, when it is expected the majority will be told that they can leave the club after a horrible Championship campaign.
The likes of Tom Barkhuizen, Elliot Parish, David Perkins and Delfouneso himself look likely to depart.
