Aaron Jarvis has a somewhat unconventional day when he joined Luton Town in August 2017.

The Basingstoke striker joined on deadline day for an undisclosed fee and in order to pen the deal, he missed his shift at a local supermarket.

It made the transfer noteworthy, not least because of the reaction from the fans. There were plenty of puns and the national media caught the story making sure they squeezed every drop out of it as well. Everyone loves a rags to riches tale and with Jarvis, that's certainly what they got.

However, the 'riches' in this case were about as good as it got for the youngster. He didn't prove to be a non-league sensation in the Jamal Lowe mould, instead struggling to adapt to the pace and demands of full time football. He made just five appearances for the Hatters as they romped to League Two promotion.

This season he's been seen even less, the demands have increased in League One and the former supermarket worker has found himself cast aside.

He's currently out on loan with Falkirk in the Scottish Championship, although he's struggled to find the net there as well. His contract is up in the summer and if his recent outings are anything to go by, he's likely to be looking for a new club.

His experience with both Luton and Falkirk should surely be enough to see him remain in the professional game, with lower League Two clubs likely to see the potential and, if a deal can be struck somewhere, he'll surely still grace the Football League.

Perhaps in a side not challenging at the top of the table, or on such a sharp upwards trajectory as the Hatters, Aaron Jarvis can get the senior experience he needs to develop into more than an amusing deadline day story.
