Steven Schumacher has had a tremendous impact at Plymouth Argyle after stepping up to the top job following Ryan Lowe's departure to Preston North End last season.

It is easy to forget that this is still the 38-year-old's first full campaign in senior management, and his stock appears to be rising by the week.

Brittle job security across the Championship this term has seen the Argyle boss in the conversation for a handful of exciting vacancies, but his commitment to the Pilgrims' promotion bid has been unwavering, recently signing a new contract with the club that runs until the summer of 2027.

Every manager will have a club in mind that they would love to manage to fulfil a boyhood dream, often playing at the top level, and Schumacher revealed who that club is for him when asked about long term goals in management.

The Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month exclusively told Football League World:

"Long term? (Chuckles)

"I'm just focused on the next game if I'm dead honest.

"But, obviously, like all managers I've got ambition and I want to manage at the very top if I can.

"My team was Everton, so if I could ever get to the Premier League and manage Everton, that would be the dream come true.

"But I understand that I've got a lot of work to do, I've only been in charge for just over 50 games.

"It's going well so far, I've got off to a great start, but there's still a lot of ups and downs to go.

"I'm sure I'm going to have tough times over the next few years but as long as I keep working hard, and keep believing that those opportunities will be there, then hopefully I can get to the top one day."
