Ipswich Town are closing in on a deal to sign Everton youngster Lewis Gibson, as reported by East Anglian Daily Times.
The 19-year-old has been impressing for Everton’s U23 side in Premier League 2 this term and has gained a growing reputation amongst Championship and League One clubs.
Joining the Toffees from Newcastle in the summer of 2017, Gibson has not featured for Everton’s first team as of yet, and a loan move to Portman Road is now said to be very close to completion.
Should Gibson arrive at Ipswich; he will join the likes of Conor Grant, Callum Connolly and Matthew Pennington who have all spent time at the club on similar deals from Everton.
Gibson would also join Everton youngster Luke Garbutt, who arrived in the summer at Ipswich, but it is reported that the youngster must extend his deal at Goodison Park before a move is completed.
If Gibson does move to Portman Road, he would act as a replacement for Toto Nsiala who is set to join Bolton Wanderers on loan.

A good move for Gibson and a reward for his performances for Everton’s U23 side. The youngster has plenty of talent and will offer Paul Lambert a good option as his side look to keep their promotion chances in line.
The club have a good connection with Premier League side Everton, and that is something that should continue to be utilised and worked on.
