Blackburn Rovers have confirmed the signing of highly-rated Everton goalkeeper Joe Hilton.
The 19-year-old shot-stopper has signed a two-year deal at Ewood Park and is set to go straight into Rovers' under-23 squad.
Hilton was a key player for Everton's under-23 side last season, as they won the Premier League 2 Division 1 title and the Premier League Cup.
He has also trained alongside England number one Jordan Pickford at Everton and has been named in their matchday squad in the Premier League a couple of times.
The teenager will now compete with Andy Fisher for the number one spot in the under-23 team, where he will be hoping to impress the coaching staff.
Blackburn face newly-promoted Charlton Athletic on the opening day of the new Championship season, after finishing 15th in the table last season.
The Verdict
This could be a good signing for Blackburn Rovers. Hilton is a talented young goalkeeper and he wouldn't have been at a club like Everton unless they thought he had potential to be a top 'keeper.
He's been an important player for Everton's development squad over the past couple of seasons and he will have learned a great deal from training alongside Jordan Pickford too.
He's definitely one to watch out for in the future and it might not be too long before he gets a chance in the first-team at Ewood Park.
For now though, all he can do is focus on working hard in pre-season training and hope that he impresses for Rovers' under-23 side next season.
