Jordan Pickford is edging closer to securing his £30m switch to Everton, with the Sunderland goalkeeper set to complete a medical by the end of the week, reports the Mirror.
The 23-year old is currently on international duty with the England under-21s, but has undergone the first stages of a medical with Everton, with the deal set to be tied up before the start of the under-21 Euros on Friday.
Pickford cannot officially leave Sunderland until July, but after they agreed a fee with Everton earlier this week, and with a medical underway, there should be no complications with the deal, with personal terms reportedly agreed between the two parties
Everton have moved to sign the goalkeeper following Sunderland’s relegation to the Sky Bet Championship, after Pickford excelled in the top-flight last season during a disappointing campaign for the Black Cats.
The 23-year old made 29 appearances in the Premier League last season, and earned his first call-up to the England senior squad in October 2016, after impressing at the Stadium of Light during the early stages of the campaign.
Pickford now becomes the most expensive British goalkeeper ever, and the third most expensive in world football, following Ederson’s move to Manchester City (£35m) and Gianluigi Buffon’s transfer to Juventus (£32.6m).
