Everton are considering a January move for young Blackburn Rovers teenager, Callum Wright.

The Liverpool Echo reports that Toffees boss Sam Allardyce is keen to add the promising youngster to the club’s U23 squad in the new year, a huge u-turn by the club after allowing the player to leave Goodison Park as a 13-year-old.

The winger has excelled in the youth set-up at Ewood Park, with his form for the reserves alerting the attentions of Liverpool-based side.

Everton face fierce competition if they are to secure Wright’s return to the club however, with Tottenham, Leicester and Stoke all harbouring an interest in the young star.

The race for Wright’s signature is hotting up, and the youngster has a big decision to make should offers materialise in the new year.

The Verdict

Wright is an extremely promising young talent with bags of potential, and Blackburn will feel resigned to losing the player at this early stage of his career.

The youngster has been expertly nurtured in the Rovers academy, and fans will be disappointed to see the 17-year-old depart before his career at the club has even started.

A move home to Everton seems likely given the player’s history with the coming and hailing from Liverpool, but Allardyce must move fast if he is to secure his man, and possibly add a future star of the first-team to the already extremely successful academy at the club.
