Everton are interested in securing a January transfer deal for Charlton youngster Ezri Konsa, according to reports in The Liverpool Echo.

Chief Scout Martyn Glover was in attendance at Ewood Park on Saturday as Konsa’s Charlton side fell to a 2-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers, with the experienced talent spotter running the rule over the promising star.

An England U-20 international, Konsa is regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in the Football League, and Everton are said to be keen to tie up a deal before others affirm their interest in the player.

The Toffees have an excellent track-record of affording opportunities to youngsters, with their regular Premier League side littered with academy graduates.

Konsa would be the second young Addicks star to head to Goodison Park in as many years, following Ademola Lookman’s multi-million pound move last season.

The Verdict

Konsa has continued his fine form in South London into the new campaign, after impressing for Karl Robinson’s side last semester.

The six-foot centre-half already has over fifty league appearances to his name at the age of twenty, and has been instrumental in Charlton’s rise into the playoff spots.

Konsa has vast potential, something Everton boss Sam Allardyce has recognised, and a January offer appears increasingly likely.
