Planet Football – using Transfermarkt – has compiled a huge list of Championship players that are free from their contracts in the summer and there is certainly some eye-catching names to note as you scroll down.
Of course, it’s bound to be the case that some players sign deals between now and the end of the campaign and more commit to new contracts in the summer but, as things stand, there’s some good players available on a free.
It’s not just Championship sides that should be looking at it, though, there’s players in this list good enough for the Premier League if the right club comes calling and that is where Hull City’s Abel Hernandez comes in.
The forward has not had the best campaign thanks to injury but when he is on form and fully fit he is more than a handful for Championship sides.
He’s well-suited to a club that goes with one up top with his pace, power, ability to hold the ball up and the work he does in the channels and so, immediately, he could be well suited to both Everton and West Ham.
Both should remain in the top flight for next season – though the Hammers are in a bit of trouble right now – and both need a powerful, pacey front man to start ruffling feathers.
Both have been blunt at times this season and so, with that said, a punt on Hernandez for free wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world at all.
What should Hernandez do? Let us know below!
