Everton and Newcastle United monitor Nottingham Forest ace as £10m valuation emerges

Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall is on the radar of Everton and Newcastle United heading into the January transfer window, whilst Burnley are also reportedly keeping tabs on his situation.

Worrall has proved to be an outstanding performer in the Forest first-team over the years, elevating his performances following Steve Cooper’s appointment at the City Ground earlier in the season.

That’s not going unnoticed, though, with suitors already lining up heading into January.

As per the Mirror, the Forest centre-back could be available for £10m in upcoming transfer windows, as Everton and Newcastle monitor his situation.

It’s also noted how Burnley could follow up their interest in the 24-year-old if and when they lose James Tarkowski.

Has Lewis Grabban scored for Nottingham Forest at the John Smith's Stadium?

Worrall has made 16 appearances this season in the Championship for Forest, excelling in either a back three or back four since Cooper’s arrival.

He’s a product of Forest’s academy and has also progressed through the England youth set-up over the years, via a loan spell at Rangers in 2018/19.

Forest take on Peterborough United this afternoon in the Championship, looking to get back to winning ways following three consecutive draws.

The Verdict

As you filter through Championship centre-backs, there aren’t many that standout more than Worrall. He’s proved to be really consistent after a shaky start to life in the Forest first-team and, given the club’s mid-table position, it’s not out of the question that a move could happen.

He’d be a good fit for Burnley if Tarkowski moves on, whilst Everton and Newcastle could build around him long-term too.

At £10m, he’d be a really good price. Worrall is someone that’s ready for the ‘here and now’ in terms of challenging himself in the Premier League, whilst his best years as a centre-back remain ahead of him.
