Gillingham made yet another move in the transfer market yesterday, signing winger Matty Willock from Manchester United, as reported by their official site.

It's believed that in signing the 22-year-old they beat off significant interest from several clubs, including Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers, and have given the wide man a two-year deal.

Willock was released earlier in the summer after three loan spells away from Old Trafford. He spent time with FC Utrecht before having half a year with St Mirren in the SPFL last season.

He returned early from that loan and went to League Two Crawley, where he made 11 appearances without a goal.

Willock comes from a footballing family and began his youth career at Arsenal with brothers Chris and Joe. Chris is currently with Benfica, whilst Joe is on the cusp of a breakthrough with the Gunners.

Steve Evans was delighted with the capture, saying; “Gills fans should remember his name; they will love this signing. He is destined for greater things and we’ve beaten off some very significant interest from Championship clubs. He is nothing short of an outstanding talent.”

Whilst fans of the clubs he has played for were less than complimentary on Twitter, it's certainly a signing that has pleased this selection of Gillingham supporters.
