According to Sky Italia, AS Roma are interested in signing Fulham full-back Cyrus Christie before the January transfer window slams shuts.

The Italian giants are in the market for another right-back after Davide Zappacosta suffered a long-term injury earlier in the campaign.

Now, they are very much relying on Alessandro Florenzi in that position despite having to play a whole host of additional games in the Europa League.

It's a position that needs to be strengthened by the club, and it appears that the Irishman has been picked out as a transfer target.

Christie has played 15 games for Fulham so far this season, and hasn't been as impressive as he would have liked. He's struggled to stay in the team for a consistent period of time although could be a crucial player in their run-in for promotion.

The player is now 27-years-old, although he has never played for a team outside of England during his playing career.

The Verdict

It would be a pretty shocking swoop from Roma, as one would assume that they could track a few better prospects than Christie to the side.

He'd be good cover for Florenzi, but it is hard to envisage the player getting much starts throughout his time at the club although he may well be an asset in the Europa League.

It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for the full-back, and it wouldn't be surprising at all to see the player decide that he wants to take a chance and move to Italy.

The window closes very soon, and it'll have to be a quick turnaround if Roma want to get this one down.
