Swansea City forward Liam Cullen is the subject of loan interest from Cypriot side Pafos following his impressive Under-23 displays this term, according to Football Insider.

Cullen is thought to be low down the attacking pecking order at the Liberty Stadium despite his positive performances, and it is being reported that he could be set to reunite with his former Under-23 boss Cameron Toshack, who is now the manager of Pafos.

The 20-year-old has netted eight goals in his 15 appearances for the Under 23s so far this campaign, but the recent loan arrival of Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster means Cullen may find it even more difficult to break into Steve Cooper's first-team side.

This means Swansea are reportedly open to Cullen sealing a loan move away from the club in order to increase his chances of regular playing time, and Toshack is thought to be a keen admirer of the attacker after working with him in South Wales.

Cullen has progressed through the academy ranks at Swansea, but he is set to see his contract expire during the summer, with this meaning a loan move could benefit him as he aims to prove himself to the Swans as he attempts to secure a new deal.

The Verdict

Cullen would definitely now benefit from a loan move away from the Liberty Stadium seeing as he is currently excelling in the Under 23s, and he now needs a tougher challenge that will help him gain experience in senior football.

However, I'm not too sure a temporary move to the Cypriot first division would be too beneficial for his development, as he surely needs to gain experience in England if he wants to make the grade at Swansea.

It makes sense that Pafos are targeting Cullen given Toshack's connections with Swansea, but the South Wales side should wait to see if they receive any further interest in the attacker before making a final decision regarding his destination.
