Fenerbahce are interested in securing the services of West Brom striker Salomon Rondon this summer, according to Turkish outlet Ajansspor.

The report states that Rondon's representatives have already held talks with Fenerbahce, who are keen to sign the Venezuelan striker who spent last season on loan at Newcastle.

Rondon impressed in the north-east during his loan spell where he scored 12 goals in 33 appearances for Rafa Benitez's side as he helped them achieve a 13th-placed finish in the Premier League.

The forward is not set to return to West Brom over the summer, but his future remains uncertain as it is likely he will want to play at a higher level than the Championship.

Rondon initially signed for West Brom in 2015 and he has scored a total of 28 goals in 119 appearances for the Baggies. However, he couldn't prevent them from dropping into the Championship in 2018 which triggered his loan move to the Magpies.

It is not yet clear how much Fenerbahce are prepared to pay for the 29-year-old who is now entering the peak of his career.

The Verdict

At the moment, Rondon is set to return to West Brom this summer but I can't see him sticking around for long.

He will want to play at the highest level possible after his exploits in the Premier League last season, and it would also give the Baggies a financial boost to get his salary off the wage bill.

Fenerbahce could be a good move for him, but I would like to see him staying in the Premier League next term as he is a capable top-flight striker.
