Turkish side Sivasspor are interested in signing Stoke City outcast Oghenekaro Peter Etebo this summer and they have him on a list of their targets, according to Fotomac.

Etebo is one payer that Stoke are aiming to move on this summer with the midfielder deemed surplus to requirements by Michael O’Neill.  That comes with them wanting to lower their wage bill to help bring in other signings.

The Potters have been working hard to shift on a couple of players that are not wanted in and around the squad and Kevin Wimmer has already secured himself a move away from the club.

According to Fotomac, Sivasspor are aiming to bring in two more midfield players to strengthen their options in the middle of the park.

It is believed that Etebo is among the two players that the Turkish side are keen on securing a move for and that they are pushing to agree a deal with the Potters for his signature. It is also thought that a loan deal is also potentially on the table.

The 25-year-old spent last season out on loan in Turkey with Galatasaray and he managed to make 24 appearances in the league for them, and that has seen him catch the eye now of Sivasspor.

The verdict

This is a major potential positive for the Potters and it could see them manage to finally get Etebo off their wage bill if they can sort out a permanent switch to Sivasspor for him this summer. However, even if it did prove to just be a loan move for him it would still enable them to get some of his wages out of the club and also give him the chance to play games.

Etebo has no future at Stoke and it is in the interests of everyone that he moves on this summer. Sivasspor seem to have been impressed enough with his performances in Turkey last term to feel he is someone that could add quality to their midfield options.

You would not expect Stoke to be demanding too much here from Sivasspor given they are so keen to get the midfielder out of the club. You would therefore expect this one to happen and whether it is on a loan deal or a permanent one it would be good for the Potters to get him out of the door.
