It has emerged that the Belgian Jupiler Pro League is likely to be ended early because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The board of directors of the Jupiler Pro League have come to the conclusion that the best solution is to end the season early, and award Club Brugge the title, whilst offering European places to Gent, Charleroi and Antwerp.

The Belgian Jupiler League is the first 'top-flight' league in Europe to strongly back this solution, with it still needing to be fully endorsed at a general assembly meeting on April 15th.

It's a debate that has rumbled on for weeks in the United Kingdom, ever since it was announced all EFL and Premier League football was to be suspended, initially until April 3rd, and now April 30th at the very least.

There have been a number of potential solutions bandied about including playing the rest of the season behind closed doors, expunging the whole season and making it null and void, or pushing back the date of resumption and allowing crowds in as normal.

This precedent set over in Belgium is likely to interest supporters of Leeds United and West Brom in the Championship, with them both occupying the top two spots in the league - whilst Coventry City in League One top the table and would benefit if this solution was utilised in England.

As of yet though, patience is required as the EFL, Premier League and PFA lock heads to muster up the best possible outcome for all parties.
