Aston Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is on a three-man shortlist as Juventus look to find a Gianluigi Buffon replacement – according to Italian outlet CalcioMercato.
Gianluigi Donnarumma, a 17-year-old prodigy who has attracted plenty of interest from the Premier League, is considered to be Juventus’ primary target. The young AC Milan ‘keeper has reportedly been identified as the ideal replacement by Juventus officials.
However the Old Lady is also considering moves for Alex Meret of Udinese or Aston Villa’s Pierluigi Gollini if a move for Donnarumma fails to materialise.
19-year-old Meret is on loan at Serie B side SPAL while Gollini joined Championship outfit Aston Villa in the summer from Hellas Verona.
The 21-year-old has made 11 league appearances for the Midlands side since his summer move.
The Italy under-21 international is still developing his game but has put in some promising performances for the Villains and is preferred as the number one to Mark Bunn.
Juventus are preparing for life without long-serving legend Gianluigi Buffon, who is now 38, and have Meret and Gollini on their wishlist because they are aware that AC Milan will probably be unwilling to sell to a rival club.
Aston Villa fans – what do you think? Can you stop Gollini from joining Juventus if they make a move? What transfer fee does he command? Who could you draft in as a replacement?
