European club set to beat Leeds United to the signature of striker

Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty, wants first-team football and looks certain to leave Norwich in the January transfer window, and it seems that Palermo are leading Leeds United in the race to sign him, according to Inside Futbol (via Corriere dello Sport)

Leeds United had looked the most likely destination for the 28-year-old, with Leeds manager stating his interest in the player.

Now Serie A side Palermo have joined the race for the forward, and with the upcoming European Championship coming up, Lafferty will be keen on impressing to cement a place in the Northern Ireland starting eleven.

Palermo have scored 17 goals so far this season and are looking to add more firepower to their squad, and they have seemingly earmarked the Norwich City frontman as the man they want, subsequently jeopardising the hopes of Leeds United.

Lafferty has played for Palermo before in 2013/14 season so it wouldn’t be unfamiliar territory for the player.

Leeds United currently sit in 18th place in the Sky Bet Championship, having amassed 23 points from 20 league games this season.
