Spanish La Liga side Sevilla are interested in signing Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, according to reports from Spanish media outlet Marca.

The 32-year-old arrived at Elland Road in January, signing on a free transfer from Real Madrid after making a total of 43 appearances for the European giants.

But the Spanish shot-stopper certainly divided opinions amongst the Elland Road faithful following his arrival from the Bernabeu, after taking the number one spot from Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Casilla made a handful of mistakes for Marcelo Bielsa's side in the second half of the season, most notably in the play-off semi-finals, where he collided with Liam Cooper to allow Jack Marriott to convert into an empty net - gifting Derby County with a way back into the tie.

Leeds' Victor Orta has recently insisted that Casilla will not be leaving Elland Road this summer, but now, Marca claim that La Liga side Sevilla are eyeing up a move for the Spaniard.

Casilla is believed to be the highest earner at Elland Road, so with over three years left on his deal at the club, it will be interesting to see how Bielsa responds to this piece of speculation.

The Verdict

I would be keeping Casilla at Elland Road this summer if I were Marcelo Bielsa - he may have made some mistakes last season, but he is clearly a very good goalkeeper having played for one of the best clubs in the world.

With a full pre-season under his belt, you would imagine that Leeds fans will see a much better Casilla next season, and I think he's definitely better than Peacock-Farrell who Bielsa doesn't seem to trust at all.

With over three years left on his deal, Leeds could demand a lot of money for him too, so the ball is definitely in their court this summer.
